Enjoying it all and looking forward to the furture.

After our session Thursday with Dr. Bawcom, I am even more excited about our program now then I was when I was first accepted into the program. I have drawn so many parallels between Dr. Bawcom's career journey and mine. He let me know that it is ok not to always be the "life of the party. " I know I have a long ways to go before I reach his status and accomplish even a fraction of what he has accomplished. As he stated numerous times during his presentation success is about being in the right place, at the right time and knowing the right people. I know our program is the right place; we are going through it at the right time and you all are definitely the right people to know. I am really enjoying taking this journey with you all.  God Bless.

  1. Future Dr. Smith,
I too took a great deal, many lessons, away from Dr. Bawcom's presentation Thursday. One of those lessons was being at the right place, at the right time and knowing the right people. Everytime I reflect on the program, I cannot help but to think of what an excellent job Dr. Rose and Dr. Vasek did when they selected our cohort. We are really a cohesive unit and we work well together. Rarely does a collection of people transform from being a group to a cohesive family unit as quickly and genuinely as Cohort 4 has. We are truly blessed to be learning beside such exceptional educators and people of God. As you stated, I too feel extremely blessed to be a part of the esteemed Cohort 4!!!!!

  2. Jason, I agree with you. Dr. Bawcom made a great impact on my life as well. I also agree that your life parallels his. In addition, I can imagine you giving the same kind of speech to future educators. :)

  3. I too agree. Things happen for a reason and everything in my life fell into place for me to be able to participate in this program and for my life to be blessed to have met all of you and continue to grow and learn - not only educationally, but spiritually.

  4. Dr.'s Smith, Whitfield, Diaz, and Cox (sounds like a law firm) I have to agree! I feel this is the right time for us to be at UMHB. After listening to Dr. Bawcom's inspirational journey, I feel I am on a journey with some inspirational people - Thank you for letting me be a part of it.

  5. Jason, you will always be the life of our party. You are so solid man. Every party needs that one designated person to keep the lid on when us "party people" get off track and start to go too far off on our tangents. Jason, you are in the right program and the right time, simply because Cohort 4 would not be Cohort 4 without you. You don't need no party, we are the party. Love ya man!

  6. Jason, I believe those three days during this learning sessions gave each and everyone plenty to reflect on for a long time.

  7. Jason, I enjoyed working with you on both presentations this weekend and in the prep weeks. You are responsible, tech savy, smart, a risk taker and don't sell yourself short on the fun side. I laughed so much preparing for A Whole New Mind that it almost didn't seem like work. Laughter is good for the soul! You are good for all of us in Cohort 4!

  8. I had the privilege of teaching Cohort 2 on Saturday as they near the end of their journey. They were reflecting that they only had two sessiions left when they would all be together as a group. It was a semtimental journey, and Cohort 4 has begun it.
